Executive staff members are responsible for managing the major functional areas of the Corporation. They report directly to the Chief Executive Officer, who is accountable to the Board of Directors.
Mr. Riddick has served as the chief executive officer of The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence since 1985. In this position, he is charged with the overall responsibilities of the company’s day-to-day operations. A native of Hobbsville, NC, Mr. Riddick received his BS and his MAEd in Biology from East Carolina University. Prior to joining CCME, Mr. Riddick served as executive director of Western North Carolina Medical Peer Review Foundation for 10 years.
Ms. Tapp joined The Carolinas Center for Medical Excellence in 1985 and was promoted to her current position in 1989. Her areas of responsibility include: accounting, human resources, information systems and administrative services. She prepares and monitors the budgets, coordinates financial investments, supervises building and equipment, and prepares the financial section of contract proposals. She graduated from North Carolina State University with degrees in business management and economics
Mr. Weiser is responsible for the development and operation of programs and services provided in both North and South Carolina through the four operating divisions of CCME. These include Federal Programs and Services, State Programs and Services, Physician and Community Services, and Research Divisions. These divisions develop and provide quality improvement, patient safety, utilization management and program support services to both federal and state governments. They work with the medical community to develop, understand, and use quality measures to improve health care and to conduct comparative effectiveness research. A major effort of this work is focused on developing new ways to capture and use clinical data to improve care, including assisting physicians in implementing and using electronic medical records to provide better care. The divisions provide educational programs for physicians and allied health personnel. Mr. Weiser has been with CCME since 1991.
Dr. Simpson is a professor of medicine in the division of cardiology at UNC and joined CCME in 1995. He received his MD from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. He received both his PhD and MPH in epidemiology from the UNC School of Public Health. Dr. Simpson is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular disease. He is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. In addition, Dr. Simpson is a practicing clinical cardiologist with research experience, training and expertise in preventive cardiology. He currently is the director of the preventive cardiology program at UNC.
Ms. Postal has been employed by CCME for more than 18 years. She is well known to providers and stakeholders for her work in public awareness campaigns, including immunizations, mammography screenings, stroke prevention, heart disease prevention, and diabetes prevention. She helped establish the SC Coalition for Older Adult Immunizations and the SC Mammogram Coalition. She has extensive experience in health care consumer outreach, media relations, public relations, social marketing, and government relations. Ms. Postal is the administrator for the SC Alliance for Medical Excellence and is the contract administrator for the NC DHHS Heart Disease and Stroke Prevention Task Force media contract and the SC DHEC Immunization media contract. Melinda received her Bachelor of Arts in Public Affairs, emphasis in Public Relations, from Columbia College.
