CCME’s Cheryl Anderson, BS, RPH, Receives Generation Rx Champions Award
Columbia, SC - CCME’s Medication Safety Pharmacist Cheryl Anderson, BS, RPh, is the 2018 recipient of the Generation Rx Champions Award, presented by the Cardinal Health Foundation at the South Carolina Pharmacy Association’s annual convention in Hilton Head Island, SC, on June 16, 2018. The award honors a South Carolina pharmacist who has demonstrated outstanding commitment to raising awareness of the dangers of prescription drug misuse among the general public, as well as the pharmacy community. It is also intended to encourage educational prevention efforts aimed at patients, youth, and other members of the community.
“I am honored to be nominated by my peers and humbled to be chosen by the South Carolina Pharmacy Association to be this year’s recipient of the Generation RX Award of Excellence,” said Anderson. “I share this award with my exceptional state and community pharmacy partners who share my passion, innovation, and commitment to develop prescription medication safety and opioid interventions. We, as partners, are making a difference by sharing evidence-based best practices and inspiring solutions to increase awareness of prescription drug abuse and misuse.”
Nominees are evaluated based upon the additional following criteria: involvement of other community groups in the planning and implementation of prevention programs; innovation and creativity in the creation and implementation of prevention activities; scope/magnitude of prescription drug abuse efforts and demonstrated impact of prescription drug abuse prevention efforts.
“Cheryl is tireless in her efforts to raise awareness of the dangers of prescription drug misuse,” said Joy Rozman, MEd, RN, CCME President and CEO. “This award strongly reflects the appreciation of the pharmacy community and her colleagues for her dedication to protect the public from drug misuse.”
